I haven’t done a makeup routine post since the Spring time and I wanted to share a few new products that I’ve incorporated into my daily routine. I don’t really spend a lot of time (or money) on finding new products but I have branched out recently and wanted to share what I’ve been loving.
In the Winter months my skin, especially around my nose, gets dry and patchy. Starting with a great skincare routine is vital to how your makeup looks. I will do a skincare routine blog post at a later time so today I’m going to focus on what makeup products I’ve been using. My skin is combination with more oil in my t-zone and the products listed below work for me.
Below is my everyday routine. I do these steps, in order, each day for work.
Primer // E.L.F. Poreless Primer $8 It’s unique in that it’s a solid until it warms up in your fingers. It’s slightly pink tinted in the container. It’s smooth and blends out nicely. I use more than you might think and it doesn’t clog my pores at all. This primer gives my foundation a smooth surface to sit on.
Concealer // IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Concealer $26 I like to use this concealer after my primer and under my foundation. It’s thicker and a little goes a long way. It’s full coverage and works well both over and under foundation. I love this stuff because it works! I wear the shade neutral medium.
Foundation // I honestly have not strayed in years from the Maybelline matte & poreless in shade 125. It covers well (medium coverage), it’s buildable, it applies smooth and lasts all day when set properly. I wanted to try other foundations but ones that I wanted to try were twice as expensive so I’ve been hesitant. Which foundations should I try?
Another Concealer // Yes, I conceal my under eyes twice in my routine. I have such dark bags under my eyes that this method works the best to help hide them. This concealer from Maybelline is ok. I wear the color ivory and the shade is great but the coverage is mediocre. I find that it settles into my lines so I would actually recommend the concealer from Morphe if you want something equally affordable. I just ran out and had the Maybelline one on hand.
Setting Powder // Ciaté London Translucent Powder $20 I discovered this powder in my FabFitFun box and was blown away! The amount of matte and how smooth it makes me look without being cakey and flakey is amazing. I’ve re-purchased 3 times already is how much I love it. It applies well with a sponge or makeup brush.
Brow Products // Glossier Brow Flick + Boy Brow Duo $30 in brown. I love, love, love this set. I use the boy brow gel first to fluff up and then go in with the flick and draw in where I need to. I have sparse brows on the tail so I like to fill in that area. I have to be light handed with the flick because it can be intense if not applied correctly.
Eye Shadow Palette // Butter London Little Londoner Shadow Palette $14 I received this in PR along with a mascara and I’m obsessed with the shades. On a quick get ready day, I use the upper left shade, Kensington and apply a small amount of lower left shade, Piccadilly to my lid. The green shimmer shade is ah-mazing! I also apply a little bronzer in my crease to darken it.
Eye Liner // Tréstique Eye Pencil $19 I use this very minimally as close to my lash line as possible. It’s easy to apply and easy to smudge out. I use the black shade but it does come in other shades.
Mascara // Hands down the best drug store mascara that I’ve ever used is the L’Oreal Lash Paradise. It works wonders on lengthening and making my lashes look fuller!
Bronzer // I’ve been switching between the Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer, honestly because it smells like coconuts, and the Milani baked bronzer. I use shade Soleil in the Milani and Deep in the PF.
Blush // Currently using Milani Dolce Pink bake blush. Such a great buildable blush for my skin tone.
Highlighter // Within the past month, I have been using the Milani rose glow stellar lights highlighter palette. I use the shade pearl in my inner corner and brown bone and I mix the gold and rose gold shades together for my cheek bones.
Lashes // I’ve been applying Ardell lash trios to my outer corner for months now and I love how it looks day to day. It makes my eyes look bigger and adds length just on the outside.
Setting Spray // Morphe Setting Spray $16 THIS STUFF IS SO GOOD! I stepped into Ulta a month ago and had no idea Morphe was sold in store. (insert face slap emoji) I wasn’t lying when I said that I haven’t gotten any new makeup in A LONG TIME. I wanted to try this because I’ve heard a lot about it and I love the idea of a continuous spray vs. a pump sprayer. It’s a fine mist, smells like nothing really, isn’t sticky and is so refreshing. I’ve repurchased already.
It may seem like a lot of products and a lot of steps but this routine takes me about 15 minutes sometimes longer depending on how picky I want to be or if I actually add more shadow colors. I do want some recommendations for new products, preferably for more oily skin, so leave those below!
