Tips To Make Leaving For Vacation Even Better

Tips To Make Leaving For Vacation Even Better

Hello Loves! I wanted to do a post like this because Sean and I have been traveling a lot this year and I thought some of you might find this helpful. Today I’ve got a few prep tips and tricks that make leaving, and coming home from vacation, even more enjoyable.

Do laundry

There is always so much laundry to do when we get back from vacation so getting as much of it done before you come back is essential. It makes me less stressed. I also wash all the sheets before vacations so we come home to a clean and cozy bed. Towels, if those have been stacking up, also get washed to avoid that headache. I do laundry throughout the week leading up to the day we leave, so it doesn’t seem like such a monumental task if you have to do more than one load.

Do Laundry

Clean sweep the house

What I mean by this is wipe things down, put things away and tidy up. I clean up the kitchen, empty the dishwasher, fold blankets and put the living room back together too. If you have laundry then fold it and put it away. I put everything back in its spot so when we come back home all there is to do is unpack the suitcases.

Clean out the fridge / meal plan

Don’t take out frozen chicken to thaw if you’re leaving for a week, unless you’re going to eat it before you leave. Eat the veggies and fruit that will go bad while you’re gone. I plan dinners accordingly and minimize the leftovers. I HATE throwing anything away!

Have someone watch the house

Only if needed. We have dogs so we typically have someone stay at our house. If you don’t have pets that need watching over then having someone stop by to take out the trash and grab the mail is key. Another option is contacting your local post office to have them halt mail while you’re away. Nothing says ‘Hey, I’m not home!” than tons of mail and boxes at your front door for days at a time.

Watch the house

Don’t have plans the night before you leave

I like to de-stress and relax before I leave for any trip. I like to do a self care routine maybe watch a movie and have wine and just do nothing. It also helps to go over what you’ve packed to be sure you’ve got everything you need. I have found that if I have plans the night before I leave for vacation I forget so many things. Even though I pre-pack (see next tip) there is always something that I forget that I tend to think of the night before we leave. Do yourself a favor and don’t plan anything! I promise it makes a difference.

Pre-pack

As early as possible, to avoid stress in case something comes up and you won’t have time. I’m a planner and packing the night before or even a couple days before is out of the question. I plan looks weeks in advance. I know it sounds crazy but this is my method and it works for me. I don’t physically pack my suitcase but I plan out looks and hang them on my clothing rack. I then see them each day and add accessories to the look and change things out. It’s a good way to avoid any stressors.

Thank you all so much for reading. I hope you found some of these tips helpful. Until next time,

Everyone should prep before leaving for summer vacation. This becomes even more important if you’re going away and won’t be easy to reach.
