Happy February! The last 2 posts on Style 608 have been geared towards Valentine’s Day with a formal maxi dress and a customizable gift idea. Today is another V-Day look. I put this whole outfit together with things that I already had in my closet. With Valentine’s Day coming next week you may not have had time to shop or maybe your budget is a little tight this month. I’ve got you!
I love this look because of the tulle skirt. This skirt should be a staple in everyone women’s wardrobe. It’s great for formal occasions, semi-formal too, summertime evenings or just for fun. There is elastic on the top and it sits pretty high on my hips. I’ve worn this skirt with body suits, long sleeve fitted tops and sweaters, as you see here. It’s cold in February in Wisconsin so heavier tops are a must! AND… the booties are back! Ever since these came in the mail they have been on repeat and have made their appearance on the blog a few times. I hope you enjoy this Valentine’s Day tulle skirt look as much as I do! See below for tips on putting this look together.
Piecing this look together:
1. Dark bottoms. Be it a pair of dark or black denim, a pair of black leggings or a skirt like I did here. Dark bottoms give you a base to work with. They go with anything and give you a blank canvas to add color on top, in your shoes etc. If you are looking outside of your closet: Dark denim or a dark skirt will stand the test of time too so you can wear season after season, year after year.
2. Neutral / Light Top. I went with a neutral sweater for 2 reasons. 1. It’s warm and 2. it gives me the freedom to add colorful and pop color accessories. If you choose to add your pop in your top (ha, that rhymed) then I would suggest going more neutral with your accessories. You could also wear a more fitted top here. If you need an extra layer, add a light cardigan or blazer. If you are looking outside of your closet: Neutral tops are closet staples, whether they are white or cream, black or gray. You will be sure to wear them all the time with all sorts of looks. I have a stock pile of neutrals in tanks, short sleeves, long sleeves and sweaters. This way I am never without options.
3. Add your POP! I am so obsessed with these red shoes. I love adding red or pink to any Valentine’s day look. If you do not have red shoes, find any other red or pink accessory you can. A pink scarf or hair piece, red earrings, a bracelet, necklace or even a purse will do the trick. If you are looking outside of your closet: Accessories and bags are typically cheaper options to switch in and out color on. Shoes are a little bit more of an investment if you’re choosing a colored or patterned pair. Just something to keep in mind because trends do not last forever.

The cutest outfit!! LOVE the shoes + that skirt is darling!! XO
