Happy Friday and happy National Donut Day! Even for a short week I could not wait for it to be over. I got sick with a mini cold which made my Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday miserable. Finally feeling like myself today, thankfully! I cannot believe we are already in June. Summer officially begins in 20 days and I will be starting a new mini series; Summer Staples. This will be similar to my Fall Friday and Spring Essentials posts so be on the lookout for that! I love the month of June for many reasons. It’s hot which I’m all about, my flowers are all in full bloom and it’s my wedding anniversary month. My husband and I are planning a mini vacation to Chicago to celebrate 3 years of marriage. I cannot wait for that! I’ve only got a few new products to review and you’d better believe one of them is a mask; I can’t help myself! Enjoy!
L’Oréal Pure Kiwi Sugar Facial Scrub Purify and Unclog I picked this up at Target for $10 but they usually have a deal with these masks that if you buy three, you get one free or get a $5 gift card. This kiwi mask looks and smells sweet like kiwis. It can also be used as a lip scrub which I think is pretty cool. It says to apply this mask with your fingers but I applied it with a brush so you could see what it looks like on. It feels cool at first but then gets warm. It exfoliates nicely when you go to wash it off. I rinsed in circular motions and my skin felt soft afterwards. Overall, I found out I’m more of a mask person than a scrub person. I prefer the experience of a mask better. This scrub works great and does what it says it should. Definitely worth a try though.
Eco Tools Total Perfecting Blender Sponge $3 I picked this up at Target while looking for face masks. I really wanted to try the Morphe one but didn’t want to pay the shipping so I held off. I always use these types of sponges damp to apply my foundation. This sponge almost doubled in size when I got it wet. I used the larger flat side for my foundation and the smaller side for my concealer. It blends out nicely and didn’t steak. It’s nice and soft too which I love. The teal color is also a plus in my book but that has nothing to do with how well it works. It’s priced great but after the first time I washed it, there were already cracks in the material like it was breaking apart. See image below. After washing it more than once it really began to break apart. I had to throw it away already because little teal pieces were falling off. Other than that, really great sponge and the flat sides help get into the inner corners of your eyes. It also work great to apply any setting powder along your nose and to contour your face. Loved that! QUESTION: How to you wash your beauty sponges? Is there a method that you use that works well? Please let me know in the comments below.
Batiste Dry Shampoo ($6) – Not for me. Sprays out white but once I rub it in there are no issues. It works really great for soaking up excess oil but what I really want in a dry shampoo is to add some texture and this does not do that at all. I needed to use way more that I thought and the bottle did not last me that long. The packaging is cute and caught my eye so props for that. It also smells really nice and pleasant. Nothing overpowering or too strong and there are several scents to choose from. Overall if you are looking for just a dry shampoo and nothing more, then this would be perfect for you. If you want texture or volume this is definitely not for you.
