I’m a sucker for denim, who isn’t? Can you believe that there was a whole year in high school that I didn’t wear jeans?! I hated them so much that I wore leggings or sweat pants all the time. So much has changed! Today I’m sharing my 6 must have denim styles and trends that you need in your wardrobe. I’ve got a little bit of everything here and I hope you enjoy. What style of denim is your favorite?

The boyfriend jean – I LOVE this style. You can style up with a blazer and some heels or really style down with a slouchy top. I love the looser fit and relaxed feel of these jeans. This pair I picked up from Charlotte Russe last year. Charlotte Russe is my go-to for jeans. They’re ALWAYS on sale and they fit me so well. They don’t offer different lengths but they’re standard sizes fit my 5’7″ self. I like my boyfriend jeans with a little distressing on the knees. They’re ultra comfortable and have been my go-to weekend style. Boyfriend jean here and here.
The raw hem jean – YES, YES and YES! I love the raw hem ankle detail. I got this pair from Target. A raw hem detail looks best on a distressed pair of jeans in my opinion. The raw hem looks great with slides or with a pair of strappy sandals which is why this trend will be around well into the summer months.
The black jean – Every closet should have a pair of black jeans. I have a few pairs of black jeans; one with distressing and one without. Each has its wear. You can dress them up or down. Black jeans are a must for any work casual setting or date night out. Black jeans allow your accessories to shine. Which is why I love pairing mine with a bright purse or bold necklace. I get my black jeans from Charlotte Russe and from Old Navy. Old Navy jeans fit me great too and I love the all the ‘rise’ options.
The distressed jean – As I’ve mentioned in every category above… the distressed jean. This trend has been around for a while now and it’s not going anywhere. There are different levels of distressing and I think that some at each knee is perfect. You could go overboard here so be careful that holes are not too large and the shredding is not in too many places. Distressing is edgy and looks great with a rocker tee. On the other hand it can add a fun and flirty vibe to any off the shoulder sweater. This pair is from Old Navy. Another pair here.
The colored jean – I’m a sucker for the color olive. Olive shoes, tops, jackets, accessories and especially jeans. Again, my pair is from Charlotte Russe. They’re a great wash with no distressing which I prefer on colored jeans. I would also recommend a blush or pink jean as well. Olive jeans look perfect with lots of floral patterns and will transition you well into the Spring time. Target has a pair of olive jeans and burgundy jeans that I like. Olive and blush are just my preference in color but there is burgundy and purple out there that look so cute too.
The overall – I love this trend. Wear it with a graphic tee or a cute blouse, doesn’t matter. I bought mine last year at Charlotte Russe and they’re available again this year. Overalls look great with or without distressing. I’ve seen these paired with converse sneakers or an ankle bootie and both options look fabulous. I love the versatility here. Definitely a must have for the coming season.
