If you’re like me then dreaming of warmer places is on your mind during these cold months. All I want to do is go back to Hawaii with my husband and drink Piña Coladas on the beach all day. With vacationing on my mind I thought I would put together an all you need to know post regarding traveling. What to wear on the plane, what to bring in your carry on and how to efficiently pack your suitcase.

THE OUTFIT
The Bottoms – Being comfortable on the plane, no matter how long you’re flying, is so key. I always, always, always wear leggings when I fly. Leggings are easy to style, stretchy, breathable and most of all comfortable. I pick out a pair of leggings and wear them to my destination and back home. One pair, two days. Sometimes I’ll style them on the trip too. These moto leggings would look great on a night out with some taller boots and a black leather jacket.
The Top – With leggings I need to wear a longer shirt to cover my butt. Tunic tops or longer swoop tops are perfect. This one I’m wearing is just long enough and pretty cheap from Old Navy. You can shop the look below. Wearing a soft light t-shirt helps with layering when you get cold on the flight and trust me, you will get cold.
The Jacket – I usually grab a jacket that I will style and wear later on my trip. This jean jacket is so bulky to pack which is why I would wear it on the plane. You can wrap it around your waist if you don’t need it and wear it when you’re cold. A heavier cardigan or sweatshirt will also work here.
The Shoes – Wear shoes that are easy to take on and off quickly. Nobody wants to get held up in security because you can’t get your shoes off. These converse slip on shoes are perfect. No laces or shoe tying required. I recommend wearing a shoe that you can still wear socks with. I wear those shorter socks with these shoes because the idea of my bare feet touching the nasty airport floor really grosses me out.
THE CARRY ON
I bring a large tote with me which contains my laptop, or iPad to watch movies on or read, headphones (ear buds for shorter flights or my over the ear headphones for longer flights), a travel case (I’ll explain more below), small purse that contains my wallet, phone and keys, a water bottle (empty) and depending on the length of flight, an extra shirt. It all fits perfectly inside my travel tote from JustFab.
The Travel Case (shown bottom right) – This case contains hand sanitizer, sanitizing wipes, deodorant, contact case, contact solution, my glasses, a small pill bottle with Tums, ibuprofen and Dramamine for motion sickness, lavender essential oil, peppermint essential oil and face refreshing spray. The lavender to calm by placing on the neck and wrists, the peppermint to heal by placing on any achy joints or a sore back and the face spray to refresh. All are necessary, trust me. I keep all liquids in one container because you will have to take this out while going through security.
THE LUGGAGE
Organizing your luggage will help keep your sanity. I received these Travel Cubes from my mom for Christmas and I love them! There are 6 mesh travel bags in this set, 2 large, 2 medium, 2 small, and you can get them on Amazon. I’m all about organization and I love that everything has a place. These travel cases are key to packing efficiently. They help give you more room in your suitcase too which I love since I’m so indecisive and need to bring my whole closet with me everywhere I go. I love that these have mesh on the top so you can still see what is inside each one.
Small – 11.5″ x 6.75″ (3.75″ deep)
Medium – 13.75″ x 9.75″ (3.75″ deep)
Large – 17.5″ x 12.75″ (4″ deep)
TIP: When traveling I always put dryer sheets between each layer of clothes. This really helps keep your clothes smelling fresh and not like suitcase.
TIP: To save even more room in your suitcase, roll your clothes instead of folding them. You will be surprised how much more clothes you can fit this way.
TIP: If your luggage is black, tie a brightly colored ribbon or string to your suitcase. This will make it easier to identify when picking it up at your destination. You could also wrap it a few times in brightly colored or patterned duck tape to make it stand out.
TIP: Purchase extra shower caps. You put your shoes inside of them to keep your suitcase free of dirt. It keeps your suitcase and clothes clean.

Thank you Dani! I’m glad you enjoyed it. Any travel plans?
Hopefully this summer! Life seems to get so busy! ☺️
Nothing planned for me either until the warmer months. I hope you can find some time to get away this summer!
Yes!! Love this. I love travelling, but the airport outfit is always a mini freakout xx
Thank you so much! I hope you found this helpful. Layering is key with the travel outfit. I always start with the basics like leggings and a tunic top. Grab any sweatshirt of bulky jacket and wrap around your waste so it doesn’t take up space in your luggage or carry on. Make sure the shoes are easy to get on and off! I highly recommend these converse. They have elastic so no shoes strings attached haha. Safe travels on your upcoming adventures! If you use any of these tips of tricks I would love to see them, so please tag me! : )
Love this post!! Some really handy tips for travel! Your travel outfit looks so stylish, I always look so messy and like I’ve just rolled out of bed in the airport, haha. x

Thank you so much! I’m glad you liked it. It was a very easy outfit to put together. I always start with a basic bottom and top and layer from there. Stick with your neutrals on bottom and top so it makes it easier to layer. : )
