Stitch Fix Review

Stitch Fix Review

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and good luck with all their Black Friday and Cyber Monday shopping. I had two Thanksgivings this year. One for my husband’s family and the other with my family at our house. Lots of story telling and games happening in the Anderson household. I did a little online shopping for Black Friday and only ventured out to have lunch. That night, my husband and I stayed in for dinner and a movie. Saturday was my birthday and it was the best day. All I wanted to do was relax so I scheduled a massage in the morning, had lunch with a couple girlfriends downtown, my husband put lights on our Christmas tree and we went to dinner at my favorite restaurant, Bonfyre Grille. Another year in the books. Sunday I had lunch with all my girlfriends, ran a few errands and came home to watch the Packer game. Monday was back to work and LOTS of online shopping. I’ve tried Stitch Fix before but halted it for awhile until now. I decided to treat myself for my birthday and had one delivered on the 25th. If you are not familiar with Stitch Fix read on to find out how it works!

Stitch Fix is an online service that dedicates a personal shopping stylist to you. This person chooses 5 different pieces, and sends them to you through the mail. You could be sent jewelry, purses, shoes, jeans, any top or jacket imaginable, winter coats and more. When you fill out a profile you can link a Pinterest board to your account so your stylist knows kind of what you are looking for. You can also write them detailed notes about things that you are looking for, which is what I did. There is a $20 styling fee which you get charged when the box ships. If you decide to keep any of the items in your box that $20 gets applied to your purchase. If you don’t like anything, well then you just paid $20 for them to ship you a box of things you don’t like. That has never happened to me though. I’ve always liked at least one thing. I love surprises and I enjoy not knowing what I’m going to get.
When you sign up they ask you very detailed questions about yourself so they can get the right fit for you. Fill out as much as you can. After you receive your box you have 3 days to try on, style and decide what you want to keep. If you choose to keep everything in the box you get a 25% discount! If you decide that there are items that you wish to send back, simply put them in the pre-paid envelope and send it back. Each shipment comes with a pricing sheet, a personalized note from your stylist and a few outfit ideas on how to style each piece in the box. When you go to checkout you can leave detailed feedback about each piece. What you liked, what you didn’t like, if the fit was off, if the pattern was ugly etc. Leave notes so you stylist can better cater to you on your next fix. If you are consistent about you Fix’s you get the same stylist. That person can then learn your style and select pieces that they think you will like based on all your prior feedback.
This service is ideal for those that hate shopping and picking things out, for those of you that want unique pieces that are HARD to find anywhere else, for good quality pieces at good prices or those of you who simply don’t have the time to shop. This time around I was very detailed about what it was that I was looking for. I pinned a lot to my Pinterest board and wrote a detailed note. I asked for yellow sweaters, lace details, silk camis, burgundy moto jackets, cozy neutral sweaters and anything velvet or suede. Check out below to see how my stylist did.

1) Cate Lace Up Top from Mello Day $44
This piece was the only yellow item in the box. I was really hoping for a sweater. This top is really thin and the sleeves are short on me. I liked the lace detailing on the top but the lace up part threw me off. It is not my favorite. The sleeves have elastic in them so I could have easily pulled them up to be a 3/4 sleeve but I did not like the top enough to keep it. This was a return for me.

2) Siv Off The Shoulder Pullover from Elan $68
I love this sweater a lot but was hoping for a different color. I have a gray top like this one already and could not justify keeping another one. If I did not have this top already this would be a keep for sure! The material is so soft and cozy. The off the shoulder part actually stayed down and off the shoulder. It did not creep up like others that I have. The sweater was longer and covered my butt which I liked a lot. I did return this one too.

3) Juel Velvet Clutch from Urban Expressions $38
This clutch is also pictured above. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this clutch. The color, the velvet and the silver accent. This clutch reminds me of Chloe purses. At just the right size this clutch holds my wallet, phone, keys and lip gloss. Everything I would need in a clutch. There is a chain included to make this a cross body as well. Versatile, trendy and burgundy… love it. IMG_5205

4) Biosca Satin Scallop Detail Cami from Papermoon $36
I saw this cami and knew I was keeping it instantly. I love the scallop detailing, the length is perfect for my longer torso and the material is so soft. The medium fits a little big but with the adjustable straps I’m good to go. I told my stylist that I wanted a black cami with either lace or scallop detailing and I got exactly what I asked for. Keep.

5) Payton Faux Leather Moto Jacket from Bagetelle $78
Love this piece. The faux leather is so soft. Great asymmetrical zipper detail, cute buttons and love the belt on the bottom. This jacket is a bit longer too which I like. The burgundy color is dark but I’m ok with that. The fit is the reason why I did not keep this piece. I received a medium but should be in a small. The top fit too big and looked kind of boxy. I could have pulled this off but for $78 I feel that I should love it. I do really like it but needed a smaller size.

I lean on Stitch Fix for those pieces I’ve been struggling to find. The black scallop detailed cami for example. I find one that I like and either it’s too short or the straps aren’t adjustable. This one has it all and I’m very happy with it.
