Extended Weekend in ATL 8/24 – 8/27

My husband and I recently got back from Atlanta, GA. My sister moved down there over a year ago and just bought a house with her fiancé. We were visiting her with my mom and a family friend. We have been down to Georgia a few times before but we made the trip to attend my sister’s house warming party. We were there from Thursday to Sunday. The flight out of Milwaukee, WI is a little under 2 hours which is great. If you leave early in the morning you still have an entire day to venture out.

Day 1, Thursday August 24th: We arrived in ATL around 11 and my sister picked us up. My sister’s finance took my husband to their family’s lake house to golf and have a guys day. We didn’t see them until Friday night. We had lunch at her new house and then went out for a little shopping. We stopped at Pottery Barn for a few household things, Starbucks for a pick me up, Ross’s for some retail therapy and the grocery store for wine! I picked up a new pair of grey joggers, a lounge ‘happy’ tee and a new pair of blush slides that I love. Everything at Ross’s is very inexpensive. We dropped off our purchases, freshened up and headed out to eat. We went to Brookwood for dinner and lucked out because they had $5 martinis for ladies night. The food was amazing I would recommend going if you are ever in the Marietta area. Be sure to order the smoked gouda mac n’ cheese as a side; it’s to die for! We were there for a while listening to the live music. Great first day.

Outfit details: I travel in the comfiest clothes I have. This time around I wore a new grey dress from Target, converse I got from Famous Footwear and grabbed a jacket from Old Navy. I travel with the Ace tote from JustFab online which holds my computer, a note book, a smaller purse, my headphones and travel essentials like hand sanitizer and tylenol. Day 2, Friday August 25th: We woke up early and were out the door by 9. First stop of the day was the bridal gown shop where my sister purchased her wedding dress. We went for a fitting. The dress looks so beautiful on her, I wish I could show you all but no photos will be posted until her wedding, which is May 26th 2018. After the wedding shop we made our way to grab more coffee, which is the only way to stay awake in the Georgia heat. It just makes you so tired all the time. Pedicures were next on the list. Cache is the spot we went to and they did an amazing job. We were there for over an hour and a half. We grabbed lunch at another new spot called 1920 which is right on Canton Street. Canton Street is known for all the boutiques and restaurants. We of course made stops at a few boutiques and I couldn’t help but walk out with something. There are the cutest coffee shops too. Pictures of that are below. For dinner the guys came back from the lake house and we grilled out and called it an early night.

Outfit Details: The temp in Marietta, GA was 85 and sunny. I wore a floral dress from Nordstrom, a military olive vest from Target, lace up sandals from Famous Footwear and a purse from Stitch Fix.

Day 3, Saturday August 26th: Another day of being up early! We made our way to the local Marietta Square farmers market. It was much smaller than the one in Madison but still so cute and full of crafts. There were so many jewelry and custom hand made things. We stopped at a restaurant on the square called The Social House for bloody mary’s and a very small lunch. After lunch we picked up my husband, Sean and headed to a new brewery in town called, The Red Hare. We didn’t know it but when we showed up it was the brewery’s 6th year anniversary so we got a glass to take home, 6 samples of any of their beers and a 6 pack to go home with. There were food trucks, a band playing, yard games like Jenga and bean bag toss too. We hung around there for a while then headed back to get ready for the housewarming party. The party had a great turn out and I got to meet a lot of my sisters co-workers and friends. It was so nice to put a name to a face. The party got going when the karaoke machine came out. We welcomed Sunday morning singing and dancing.

Outfit Details: I wore a black and white romper from Target, a white light-weight cardigan from H&M, pink bow Madden Girl slides and a pink Nine West purse from Marshalls.

Day 4, Sunday August 28th: We had a late night so we all slept in. We had to leave for the airport by noon so we didn’t do anything but drink coffee, eat breakfast and reminisce about the night before. We said our goodbyes which is always hard but my sister will be home for my best friends wedding in September. We made it home by 6, made grilled cheese sandwiches, put on our pajamas and laid around with our puppies.

Thank you so much for reading. If you have ever been to the Atlanta area let me know some of your favorite restaurant spots. We are always looking to try new things. Until next time,
