Hello and welcome to some review time! I’ve been trying a few new things and I want to tell you all about them… because my husband doesn’t care to hear me ramble on about them anymore. Keep reading to find out what products I’ve been loving and others that I will not be using again. Ah, the suspense is killing me! Let’s get to it.
Lets start with a total miss so we can get the ‘You should never buy this product’ out of the way. Dickens’s Original Witch Hazel face wipes. No, no and no. They flat out do not work at all to get off all my makeup or remove dirt. I have to use my micellar water every time afterwards and it is always full of makeup. These dried out really fast compared to other face wipes that come in similar packaging. The smell gets to me too. I do not like it. It smells a little chemically. These are witch hazel which I’m not a big fan of so that may be what is driving this review now. Bottom line, not for me and I will not repurchase.
New found love; Revlon Lip Stain in 700 HD Sand $8. Where have you been all my life?! Well, they’re new so… anyways, this lip stain is amazing. The packaging is so cute and it’s what caught my eye. It applies so smooth and creamy. I’ve only tried one color but I already want to expand my collection. This lip stain remains semi-glossy and lasts a good portion of the day. After eating and drinking you will need to re-apply. The sand color is a great neutral to add just a little ‘umpf’ to your lips. It smells like Skittles too!
Next up I’ve been using BRIT sheer perfume by Burberry. Ah, more like heaven in a bottle! This scent has easily become my favorite. First of all, the bottle is pink and totally adorable and the cap stays on tight so it is great to travel with. Second, the scent is so light and floral. It’s a great wear all day. It reminds me of spring and summer nights. I started using this in the winter but I would not call this a winter scent. It’s feminine without being too young. It’s not overpowering but lingers, which is great. I love it. It is kind of expensive but Ulta has perfume sales around the holidays which is when I got mine.
Transitioning from Winter to Spring always has my lips chapped and cracking. I’ve been on the hunt for a good lip mask to help moisturize and replenish my lips. I got a recommendation from my bestie Kelsie (her blog is kelsiekristine.com go check her out) for the Mary Kay Lip Mask. I tried hers for a week and really liked it. I bought my own and have been using it ever since. It comes in a small bottle and suggested use is 2-3 times a week. It has a very small amount of exfoliator in it, applies smooth and smells like nothing. Tastes like nothing too. You leave it on for a minute or two and wipe away with warm water. You really have to be consistent with using this because it does help to moisturize. I can tell when it has been too long in-between uses when my lips get a little dry and my lipstick doesn’t last as long as it should throughout the day. Get into a routine with this one.
Lastly the 24K Nudes palette from Maybelline. I got this as for free from Influenster. I’m really glad this came when it did. I’ve been on the hunt for a travel size palette. This palette is about the size of my hand so it fits easily in my makeup bag. This one retails for about $15. Maybelline is my go-to drug store brand so I went into this palette thinking it would be awesome. After use I feel this is not awesome but just ok. When I first swatched the colors they looked pretty pigmented. When I went to apply these colors on my lids I needed layer after layer to build up any color at all. They blend just ok too. I found that if I wetted my brush a little the colors came out more vibrant. The colors in this palette are beautiful which is another reason I was so excited to try this. There are 3 matte shades and the rest are shimmers. That gold in the upper right corner, ah, so gorgeous! Have you tried this? Tell me what you think?
Thank you so much for reading!! Until next time – Ashley
